General Description
Textual paper records make up the bulk of most archival holdings. However,
archives often include records in special formats, such as film, VHS video,
audio cassettes and now electronic records, which need to be described
and made accessible along with those in conventional formats. This one
day workshop will review the principles of archival arrangement and description,
examine how the Rules for Archival Description (RAD) deal with
these non-textual records and provide some hands-on practice.
Learning Method
Learning is done through a combination of lecture, group discussion,
and practical exercises in an informal, friendly atmosphere.
Participants must bring an up-to-date copy of the Rules for Archival
Description, available for free download from Canadian
Council of Archives website.
Prior Knowledge Required
Introduction to RAD Workshop or prior work experience using RAD2. Contact the Archives Advisor for more information.
Registration
Members will be able to register beginning in April 2011.
